LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV defensive back Quinton Pointer was announced as a member of the North team as the full rosters for next week's The Battle of Florida postseason all-star game were released Thursday.

The event will feature only players with ties to the Sunshine State in a game on Jan. 21 at Florida Atlantic University Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. It is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. PT and be televised by Fox College Sports.

Legendary former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden will lead the North team while his former rival from Miami, Howard Schnellenberger, will oversee the South squad.

Pointer, who graduated from Mariner High School and is a native of Fort Myers, Fla., was one of two team captains for the Rebels in 2011 and played at both cornerback and safety as a senior. He finished fourth on the team with 59 total tackles and tied for the lead with three forced fumbles and two interceptions, giving him six picks during his Rebel career. Pointer, who earned his bachelor's degree last May, won the program's Rene Arceneaux Award, which is given to a player who has demonstrated exemplary improvement in academic progress.

"I'm excited to get back out on the field," said Pointer, who is the only Mountain West player on either roster. "I'm most excited about being able to play in front of a lot of my family and friends for the first time since high school."
