Cornett Earns Combine Invite|
Feb. 6, 2014
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's all-time leading rusher Tim Cornett has been invited to participate in the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp), which begins later this month at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
According to CBSSports.com's list of player invites, Cornett is set to take part in the annual camp, which will be held Feb. 19-25 and again televised by NFL Network.
Cornett, who became the first player to lead the Rebels in rushing four consecutive seasons, finished his collegiate career with 3,733 yards, which ranked second in Mountain West Conference history. His 38 total touchdowns and 35 rushing touchdowns both ranked second at the school, as did his 16 career 100-yard rushing games. As a senior, the Texas native earned second team All-MW honors after rushing for a career-high 1,284 yards and 15 touchdowns in helping UNLV reach a bowl game for the first time since 2000. He also caught a career-high 28 passes for 143 yards.
Cornett is expected to be part of the more than 330 elite invitees to attend what has come to be known as a four-day job interview with the NFL. Top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand to evaluate the nation's top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft.
Former UNLV linebacker John Lotulelei attended last year's combine and, despite not getting drafted, made the opening day roster of the Seattle Seahawks and is now a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
