Feb. 7, 2013
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior linebacker John Lotulelei has been invited to participate in the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine (National Invitational Camp), which begins later this month at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The native of Kihei, Hawaii, and graduate of Baldwin High School and transfer from Merced College, is the first Rebel player to receive an invite since 2010 when three UNLV standouts made the trip. Named First Team All-Mountain West and UNLV Defensive Most Valuable Player for 2012, his total of 120 tackles was the 10th-highest in the school's single-season history. A team captain, he turned in a career-high 19 total tackles vs. Nevada, Reno and grabbed his first interception vs. Washington State.
Lotulelei is expected to be part of the more than 300 elite invitees to attend what has come to be known as a four-day job interview with the NFL. Top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand to evaluate the nation's top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft.
The NFL Scouting Combine, which will again be televised by NFL Network, will be held February 20-26. For more information visit www.nflcombine.net.
