LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV has added series with two members of the Western Athletic Conference to its future football schedules, the athletics department announced Thursday. The Rebels will play both Utah State and Louisiana Tech in home-and-home series beginning in 2012.
UNLV is slated to play at Utah State on Sept. 29, 2012, and then host the Aggies on Sept. 28, 2013. Head coach Bobby Hauck's program will also travel to Louisiana Tech on Oct. 6, 2012, and host the Bulldogs two years later on Sept. 27, 2014.
UNLV has a long history with Utah State, having first played the Aggies in 1971. USU leads the all-time series 12-7 but the Rebels won the last two meetings in 2007 and '08. The two schools were league mates in the Big West Conference from 1984-95.
La Tech was also briefly part of the Big West and played UNLV twice during that time. The Rebels downed the Bulldogs 28-23 in Ruston, La., in 1993 and then won 24-20 in Las Vegas one year later en route to capturing the 1994 conference co-championship.
UNLV also officially announced the addition of Western Illinois to its upcoming slate as the NCAA FCS program will come to town on Sept. 21, 2013. The Rebels and Leathernecks have played each other twice before, both in Las Vegas. WIU won the first meeting 35-28 in 1972 and UNLV won 59-29 in 1977.
Following are UNLV's tentative future non-conference schedule through 2015. However, all future games are subject to change.
