Hot Shots: NFL Pro Timing Day Concludes

John Lotulelei may become the first Rebel drafted since Joe Hawley in 2010.

March 14, 2013

LAS VEGAS ( - About a dozen former UNLV football players took part in the program's annual NFL Pro Timing Day on Thursday inside the Lied Athletic Complex and out at Rebel Park.

Scouts were on hand from the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders on a March day that saw temperatures flirting with the 90-degree mark.

Most eyes were on 2012 UNLV Defensive MVP, linebacker John Lotulelei, who took part primarily in an attempt to improve his 40-yard dash time recorded at last month's official NFL Combine. Based on his strong numbers in multiple events in Indianapolis, including the 3-cone drill, vertical jump and bench press, the native of Hawaii is expected be selected in April's NFL Draft.

Other players from last year's Rebel squad that went through testing and drills Thursday were offensive lineman Doug Zismann, running back Bradley Randle, punter/kicker Chase Lansford, quarterback Sean Reilly, defensive backs Dre Crawford and Kenny Brown and defensive lineman Trent Allmang-Wilder.

Also running were former linebacker Nate Carter, defensive back Deante' Purvis, and defensive lineman Matt Kravetz.

The UNLV football team resumes its 2013 spring practice schedule Friday with a morning session scheduled for 9:45 am to noon.
