LAS VEGAS - Three UNLV football players earned the honor of being a Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete for the 2008-09 school year, the league announced in late June.

The trio - all wide receivers for the Rebels - was made up of Casey Flair (Anchorage, Alaska) who boasted a 3.85 grade point average as a graduate student, Tate Knutson (Anchorage, Alaska), a sophomore with a 3.59, and preseason All-America candidate Ryan Wolfe (Santa Clarita, Calif.), who holds a 3.54.

The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
