LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - It’s unanimous for UNLV standout wide receiver Devonte Boyd, as the junior was named preseason First Team All-Mountain West Conference by three more preview publications.
Boyd, a graduate of Henderson’s Basic High School, was the league’s Freshman of the Year and a FWAA Freshman All-America in 2014 and then earned second team All-MW honors after a 2015 season that saw him catch 54 passes for 904 yards and seven touchdowns. He was recently listed on the first team heading into this fall by Lindy’s, Sporting News and ESPN after being previously announced by Phil Steele’s and Athlon. Boyd was also named the conference’s Most Dangerous Deep Threat by Lindy’s and Fastest Receiver by Sporting News.
Senior linebacker Tau Lotulelei also added more honors as he was named first team by both Sporting News and ESPN and second team by Lindy’s. Lotulelei, out of Maui High School in Hawai’i, earned honorable mention all-league as a junior after leading the team with 11.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
A pair of Las Vegas products was also honored as junior defensive lineman Mike Hughes Jr. out of Palo Verde High School was given a first team nod by Lindy’s while sophomore cornerback Tim Hough out of Desert Pines High School was on the magazine’s second team.
The official Mountain West Conference Preseason Team will be announced during the league's annual media event that will be held in Las Vegas at the end of July.
