LAS VEGAS - Players will report to the Lied Athletic Complex on August 5 to signal the opening of UNLV football's 2009 preseason camp - the fifth under head coach Mike Sanford.

After reporting on Wednesday, the first week of practices (August 6-10) will take place on campus at Ernie Becker Sr. Football Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Rebel Park and are open to the public in limited viewing areas. On the initial day of a five-day acclimation schedule, the Rebel newcomers will hit the field first on Thursday from approximately 7:40-9:10 a.m. The veterans will then take over from 6:00-8:05 p.m.

The next two days will see the squad split into two with the Scarlet Team practicing from 8:45-10:40 a.m. and the Gray Team from 6:00-7:55 p.m. The full squad will practice once on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 6:00-8:05 p.m. and then again in full pads for the first time on Monday, Aug. 10 at 8:45-11:00 a.m. Practices from Aug. 11-20 will be held at an off-campus location.

Beginning Aug. 21, and running through the season, all UNLV football practices are CLOSED to the public.

The Rebels open the 2009 season by hosting Sacramento State on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. PT.
