#CampRebel Powers On With Full Pads|
Aug. 9, 2016
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV football returned to Rebel Park on Tuesday for Day Five of Camp Rebel. The team practiced in full pads for the first time this fall for just over two hours before breaking for lunch.
"We had two live periods: goal line and short yardage period," head coach Tony Sanchez said. "We did thud them up. Tomorrow we will go a little longer live and then they will get a day off."
The first live tackling drill of fall came early in practice and was comprised of short yard situations. Later during the practice the team had another live tackling drill during a goal line period.
"Today was good," Sanchez said. "If you watch one of our practices you should know that there is no difference in speed, physicality or in tenacity whether we are in full or shorts and shoulder pads. I thought they did a really good job of transitioning into pads."
Practices are closed to the public except for two team scrimmages: Aug. 13 starting at 9:30 a.m. and Aug. 19 starting at 8:10 a.m.
