Travel Day The Rebel Way

Aug. 14, 2011

CAMP REBEL ( - Travel Day came and went for the UNLV Football team on Sunday as the first week of fall camp nears a close.

Exactly 100 players made the bus trip to the off-campus training site and the squad went through a significant practice to get used to its surroundings. More than 30 minutes of the workout were used in team situations and the lively, competitive spirit that showed up at Rebel Park the last few days also made the trip from Las Vegas as the offense and defense went at it throughout.

Asked about the attitude displayed Sunday, second-year head coach Bobby Hauck said that's exactly what he and his staff were looking for.

"I would say Priority One in our program was to develop an attitude," said Hauck. "We NEED that."

Hauck said there was already a different feeling around the team in his second season.

"It's great to be up here and the guys are excited to be here, which is a bit of a change from a year ago. These guys are fired up about being in training camp. If you love football, you love this!"

As night fell at Camp Rebel, the team headed over to a meal of grilled chicken and pasta along with salad and meat lasagna. It was a hearty meal in anticipation of Monday's first session of two-a-day practices in 2011.

The players will hit the field at 9 a.m. in half-pads and then again at 3:30 p.m. in full pads.

Stay tuned to for your daily practice reports as the team prepares for its season opener at Wisconsin on Thursday, Sept. 1.
