#CampRebel Weekend Edition: Photos From Stadium, Captains Named|
Aug. 21, 2016
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Sunday was an off-day at #CampRebel but Saturday was full of activity.
First, the team announced its 2016 season captains: a pair of senior linebackers -- Ryan McAleenan and Tau Lotulelei -- will take care of the defense while senior center Will Kreitler and senior running back David Greene will rep the offense at midfield before each game.
The squad then headed to Sam Boyd Stadium to hold a dress rehearsal of the opener on Sept. 1. Using the same timing as that upcoming game vs. Jackson State, the Rebels came out of the tunnel and practiced various game situations on the newly painted field for about 45 minutes.
This was all witnessed by more than 400 season ticket holders who attended a special preview event in the Club Level where they heard from Athletics Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy and Head Coach Tony Sanchez.
The night ended in a special way when the team checked out the stadium video board as walk-on defensive back Dalton Baker learned he had been awarded a full scholarship for the upcoming school year. The sophomore from Las Vegas and graduate of Bishop Gorman High School earned his first letter as a Rebel last season when he appeared in 11 games and totaled five tackles.

The team will return to Rebel Park on Monday morning for another practice marking one week until classes begin on campus. #CampRebel goes through Friday.
