#CampRebel: Tight Ends And Fullbacks Deeper Heading Into 2016

Aug. 23, 2016

LAS VEGAS ( - UNLV football continued its #CampRebel on Tuesday morning by holding one practice in full pads at Rebel Park.

Following the session, the team broke for lunch and then went through meetings in the afternoon.

Tight Ends And Fullbacks Deeper Heading Into 2016
One of the spots critically low on personnel when the current staff took over a year ago was right here. Team leader Jake Phillips graduated but two midyear additions from junior college will put the position in better overall shape come fall.

Big Andrew Price is a veteran with an NFL body but needs to step up in his final campaign while both Trevor Kanteman and Tim Holt got their feet wet in the spring.

“Tight end is a spot where we are enjoying a big upgrade as far as numbers go with this three-headed monster,” said head coach Tony Sanchez. “Price has to be more consistent but this is a good group overall.”

Expect to see the fullback spot more involved in 2016 as the Rebels welcome the return of tough-nosed Marc Philippi who missed the entire season after suffering an injury during preseason camp.

“It will be great to have Philippi back in the lineup,” said Sanchez, who also coached the fullback during his high school days at Bishop Gorman. “We need his toughness in there after losing some things in our schemes when he went out.”

UNLV will hold one practice a day the rest of the week at Rebel Park before ending #CampRebel on Thursday night. The team will be in full pads on Tuesday morning.
