UNLV Post Game Quotes

UNLV Head Coach Bobby Hauck

Opening Statement…

“Not sure what to say other than the fact that I am shocked at the moment. This was different than last season, we got beat by an FCS team in Southern Utah. SUU’s junior and senior class was more talented than our junior and senior class. Tonight we got out played. NAU stuck with it. They are to be congratulated. I’ve coached against those guys many times and it is sad to say that we came out on the short end of the stick.”

On the penalties during the touchdown tying drive…

“The touchdown we gave up was on drive where we had three pass interference calls. We were up 14-0 and we did not have the killer instinct needed to finish the game off and get away from there. We tried to go for the jugular a little bit, we missed on a pass on fourth down out of field goal formation. We missed a field goal that would have made it 17-7. We dropped balls and we gave up a punt return for touchdown. That should have been it but it wasn’t so then we got ourselves in a situation where we committed those penalties in that drive and they got down there and made it 14-14. ”

On the NAU’s defense…

“They did a nice job with our power play after the first quarter. We threw it successfully, but we just have to hang onto the ball. The drops were probably the most aggravating thing to me. We have got to make plays and obviously I need to do a better job of coaching.”
