LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV senior quarterback Caleb Herring (Moreno Valley, Calif.) has been named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The graduate of Citrus Hills High School is the first Rebel to earn the offensive honor since running back Tim Cornett in 2010 and the first UNLV quarterback to be named since Omar Clayton in 2009.

Herring came off the bench to break Randall Cunningham's school record for passing percentage in a single game by completing 24 of 28 attempts for 266 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in UNLV's come-from-behind 31-21 victory over Central Michigan.

Herring's .857 percentage bested Cunningham's .808 set vs. Idaho State in 1984. He fell two yards short of tying his career high in passing yards as he helped UNLV score 31 unanswered points.

The Rebels are at home again on Saturday as they host Western Illinois starting at 6 p.m. as part of the annual Family & Friends Night. Tickets are 2-for-1 and start as low as $7. Visit unlvtickets.com or call (702) 739-FANS (3267).

Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence earned MW Defensive Player of the Week while Colorado State linebacker Shaquil Barrett was named the league's special teams player of the week.
