LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV football earned two Mountain West weekly awards in the same week as sophomore punter Logan Yunker (Las Vegas) was voted his second straight nod while junior wide receiver Devante Davis (Galena Park, Texas) picked up his first such honor, the league announced Monday.

Yunker is the first Rebel punter to ever win Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week twice in a season and he did it over just the last two weeks. The graduate of Arbor View High School and transfer from Nevada, Reno currently tops the conference and ranks seventh in the nation with an average of 46.4 yards per attempt. Against New Mexico on Saturday, his three punts averaged 51.7 yards, as he hit a 59-yarder, a 57-yarder and a perfectly placed 39-yarder that went out of bounds at the Lobos' six-yard line.

Davis, named MW Offensive Player of the Week, posted a career-high 10 receptions for 164 yards and three touchdowns to help UNLV rally past the Lobos 56-42. Eight of his catches went for first downs and all 10 came on drives that ended in Rebel touchdowns. In the second quarter of the shootout, Davis caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Caleb Herring that tied the game at 28. In the third quarter, Davis scored an 11-yard touchdown to give UNLV its first lead of the night at 42-35. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Davis finished off a key 15-play, 80-yard drive by catching a seven-yard TD to put his team ahead for good 49-42.

Davis, who currently stands second in the nation with eight receiving touchdowns, is remarkably the first Rebel receiver to earn the conference's weekly honor since Nate Turner in 2000.

Overall, UNLV has already been honored four times through the first five weeks of the season after having just one such award winner all of last year. That total is the most for the program since garnering five nods in 2008.

The last time UNLV had two players honored in the same week came on Oct. 31, 2011, when lineman James Dunlap was Co-Defensive Player of the Week and return man Deante' Purvis won for special teams after the Rebels downed Colorado State 38-35.

Colorado State linebacker Shaquil Barrett won this week's MW Defensive Player of the Week award.

UNLV, which is riding a three-game winning streak, is off this week before hosting Hawai'i on Oct. 12. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and tickets are available by visiting unlvtickets.com or calling (702) 739-FANS (3267).
