LAS VEGAS ( - Fresh off its 27-22 victory over Nevada, Reno on Saturday, the UNLV football team displayed the fabled Fremont Cannon on campus Monday.

The team helped the Cannon make its trek from the Lied Athletic Complex through the campus academic mall and to outside the UNLV Student Union.

University president Neal Smatresk and Interim Athletic Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy were waiting with hundreds of students for the Cannon's arrival at Pida Plaza.

Members of the football team's senior class each got a turn to add some paint to the trophy they earned for UNLV for the first time since 2004.

Following the event, the Cannon was taken to the University's paint shop for its formal transformation from Wolf Pack Blue to Rebel Red.

The Cannon will be on full display as UNLV (5-3/3-1) takes on San Jose State on Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. PT and tickets are available by calling (702) 739-FANS or logging on to
