LAS VEGAS - As UNLV sophomore linebacker Bryce Saldi continues to fight back from a serious brain injury suffered during a skateboarding accident in California on July 3, some of his teammates got a chance to make a visit when the Rebels traveled to play TCU.
Saldi, a graduate of Texas prep powerhouse Southlake Carroll High School, is currently a patient at a rehabilitation care facility in Plano, Texas, and received a visit from head coach Mike Sanford and a select group of Rebels on Oct. 30.
That same night, Saldi's friends and family staged a fundraiser called "Embrace Bryce" before his alma mater's final home game at Dragon Stadium and the event raised more than $35,000 to help with the family's medical costs.
UNLV was represented at the tailgate by a group of department officials that included Interim Athletics Director Jerry Koloskie and Saldi's position coach for the Rebels, Jed Stugart.
