Nov. 22, 2017
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV football team has scheduled a home-and-home series with Pac-12 Conference member UCLA, Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois announced Wednesday.
The Rebels will travel to the Rose Bowl Sept. 7, 2024, while the Bruins will return the game in Las Vegas Sept. 6, 2025.
The two programs have met twice before with UCLA winning at Sam Boyd Stadium in 2015 and in Pasadena last fall.
The Bruins are just the latest Pac-12 program to sign up to play the Rebels in the coming years. UNLV recently announced a four-game series with Cal (two dates played in each city) and will open the 2018 season by visiting USC September 1. A home-and-home with Arizona State is also on the books for 2020 (Sept. 12 in Las Vegas) and 2021 (Sept. 11 in Tempe).
“This is another series that bolsters our future schedules and is beneficial for both sides geographically,” said Reed-Francois. “Our fans enjoy seeing traditional powers come to town, it enhances our football program’s efforts in the recruiting hotbed of Southern California and partnering with prestigious institutions in the Pac-12 only helps our development as a University.”
UNLV looks to become bowl-eligible when it closes its regular season playing at Nevada, Reno Saturday. The annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon, which is part of the Governor’s Series sponsored by NV Energy and Barrick Gold, kicks off at noon on AT&T SportsNet, which can be found in Las Vegas on Cox channel 313/1313 HD, DirecTV 684 & CenturyLink 760/1760.
