Ernst And Penner Earn All-America Honors|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's golfers Derek Ernst and Kevin Penner have both earned honorable mention All-America honors as the 2012 PING Division I All-America Teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.
The first team has 11 members, while the second and third teams each have 10 members. There were a total of 31 golfers who were named honorable mention.
UNLV has now had a player earn All-America recognition in 22 of the last 24 years and multiple players in the same year 10 times.
Ernst, who was a senior in 2011-12, was named third-team All-America in 2010, while this year marks the first All-America honor for Penner, who was a junior this past season.
Ernst was fourth in the Mountain West in scoring average this year and the led the Rebels with 71.39 over 36 rounds. He recorded nine top-20 finishes, including five top-fives and another top-10. He shot 16 rounds under par and four more at even par. He won the individual title at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational and was named to the All-MW team.
Penner finished sixth in the MW in scoring average and second on the team with 71.61 over 36 rounds. He finished in the top 20 nine times, including seven top-10 finishes and five top-fives. He was under par 15 times and shot even par in four rounds. He won the individual title at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and was also named All-MW.
