LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf program received signed national letters of intent from Jack Kozlowski and Marco Trstenjak during the early signing period, head coach Dwaine Knight announced Wednesday. They will both enroll at UNLV next fall as freshmen.
Kozlowski is from Columbus, Ohio, and is a senior at St. Charles Preparatory School in Bexley, Ohio. Last year he earned all-district honors after leading his team to a second-place finish at the state championship.
Trstenjak is from Winnipeg, Canada, and is a senior at Vincent Massey in Winnipeg. He won the 2016 World Stars of Junior Golf event in addition to the 2016 Elmhurst Invitational. He also was a finalist for Provincial Golfer of the Year in Manitoba for 2016.
"We are very excited to have Jack and Marco join our program," Knight said. "They both are talented young players who have had success as junior golfers. They are both champions in their respective regions, have excelled on a national level and have a passion for Rebel golf and all that we have to offer at UNLV."
Kozlowski won the Ohio State Junior among a field of 144 and qualified for the United States Junior by making birdies on seven of his final 12 holes in the previous event. He finished his junior year with a scoring average of 74. He also played on his high school's basketball team before choosing to focus solely on golf.
Trstenjak competed in the 2014 and 2016 IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships and earned medalist honors at the 2015 Jack Newton International Junior Classic in Australia. He also won the 2016 CJGA Mizuno National Junior Championship.
The UNLV men's golf program held its annual Rebel Golf Foundation Day on Monday at Las Vegas Country Club, where it was announced that the school's new professional golf management center on campus will be named for Knight. The Hall of Famer is in his 31st year at the helm of the program. The day also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Rebel Golf Foundation.
UNLV will open its spring season of competition Feb. 15 in Hawaii at the John Burns Intercollegiate.
