Mota Is Gold For Rebels

Mike Mota scores last two goals of game to rally UNLV to 3-2 overtime upset of first place Air Force.

(2011 - Junior): One of three players, and the only defender and start all 17 games of the season ... Notched one goal, at Cal State Northridge in a 2-1 overtime win (Sept. 1) ... Also assisted on the game-winning goal in that contest ... Finished with three points on the season.

(2010 - Sophomore): Played and started in all 19 games, one of four players to do so ... Scored his first career goal, the game-winner in UNLV's 1-0 upset win at Denver (Oct. 17) ... Also posted the first two assists of his career, and ended the year with four points ... Earned All-MPSF Honorable Mention recognition.

(2009 - Freshman): Played in seven games in his first year as a Rebel ... Made six starts.

High School: Played as a freshman, sophomore and senior for the Cowboys, as both a center back and forward ... Team reached the first round of the state playoffs his freshman year, and the state semifinals the following season.

Club: Member of Neusport in Las Vegas for four years as a center back ... Helped the team to four straight state championship titles, and to the title in the First Nomads tournament in 2005.

Personal: Mike Mota ... Born on June 26, 1990, in Providence, R.I. ... Son of Luis and Antonieta Mota ... Has two brothers, Jose Luis (23) and Kevin (17), and one sister, Lupita (8) ... Majoring in recreation.
