Sanchez Resigns As Head Coach|
Feb. 5, 2010
LAS VEGAS - Mario Sanchez has resigned as head men's soccer coach at UNLV to take a position on the Louisville coaching staff, the UNLV athletic department announced on Friday.
Sanchez leaves after four years as the Rebels' head coach, and posted a 24-41-9 overall record. That included an 8-7-4 mark this past season, the first winning season for UNLV since 2002.
"Although I haven't had a chance to spend a lot of time with Mario, I have heard great things about the job he's done with our men's soccer team," said Jim Livengood, UNLV Director of Athletics. "Certainly, Louisville's gain is our loss. I wish him continued success as he heads east."
A search will begin in the spring semester for a new head coach.
