LAS VEGAS - Ryan Harding, Joaquin Rivas and Dylan Serrano have signed national letters of intent to play men's soccer for UNLV starting in the fall of 2010, the athletic department announced on Tuesday.
Harding, a 6-1 goalkeeper from Troutdale, Ore., was a four-year starter at Central Catholic High School. This past season he earned both first team all-state and all-conference and was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive year after posting nine straight shutouts during the season. His 12 shutouts as a junior broke the school record. Harding also plays for ESU Liverpool, four-time state champions, and was a Region IV player in 2008 and 2009 (2008 Oregon ODP Player of the Year).
Rivas, a 6-0 forward from Las Vegas, led Las Vegas High to its second straight state championships this past November, and was named the Las Vegas Review-Journal Player of the Year after scoring 34 goals and 18 assists his senior season. Rivas was also the Northeast League Player of the Year as well as a first team all-conference selection. He plays for the Las Vegas Premier '92, which is currently ranked No. 1 in the state and 29th in the nation, and has helped the team to two state cup titles in the past three years.
Serrano, native of San Jose, Calif, is a 5-10 defender. At Ann Sobrato High School, Serrano earned second team All-Blossom Valley Athletic League honors as a junior, and was a first team selection his sophomore year. He plays for the USSF Academy club team De Anza Force, and was selected for a USSF Academy select team in the spring of 2009.
