LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's soccer head coach Rich Ryerson and women's soccer head coach Chris Shaw were both honored by the Las Vegas Lights Football Club on May 16, as they were each presented with The Pink Scarf.
In its inaugural season, the Lights FC is honoring members of the Las Vegas community that hold the same mission as the first-year club does, a responsibility to bring the soccer community in Las Vegas together, and the neighborhoods within the community as a whole as well.
Before each home game this season, the Lights present The Pink Scarf in a pregame ceremony at midfield. For the first time this season that ceremony took place away from Cashman Field, as UNLV's Peter Johann Memorial Field was the site of the Lights' first round game in the U.S. Open Cup. Ryerson and Shaw were honored for their efforts as head coaches of the Rebel soccer programs to promote the game of soccer in the Las Vegas community.
