UNLV senior forward Nick Marshallbecame the first Rebel in four years to be named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

In the Rebels' 5-1 rout of Canisius on Sunday, a team that was regionally ranked in the North Atlantic and receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25, Marshall posted two scores, including the game-winner, and added an assist for five points in the game.

Marshall's first goal of the afternoon came in the 37th minute to break a tie and put UNLV up 2-1. He then had a beautiful assist to set up the third score, eluding three defenders on the baseline before sending a pass to Rodrigo Fuentes right in front of the goal in the 50th minute. Marshall helped to seal the win by scoring a second goal on a run into the box and a shot from 15 yards out in the 60th minute. He closed out the scoring for the Rebels by drawing a penalty kick (converted by Julian Portugal) in the 63rd minute for a 5-1 UNLV lead.

Marshall has played in four games this year, and has four goals and three assists for 11 points, which leads the MPSF and is 25th in the nation. He is the first Rebel to earn MPSF weekly honors since the 2009 season, while Marshall earns his third mention after receiving it twice as a freshman, also in the 2009 season.

UNLV, 2-5-1 on the year, returns to action on Friday, Sept. 21 with a 3 pm contest at San Diego State.
