WOODLAND, Calif. - UNLV senior goalkeeper Justin Dennis (Scottsdale, Ariz.) has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Brine Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday.

Dennis earned his first shutout of the season in the men's soccer team's 2-0 win over No. 24 nationally-ranked Hofstra on Sept. 20. The Rebels also dispatched Central Florida, 3-2, on Sept. 22 to claim the UNLV / FILA Classic tournament title. Dennis tallied seven saves against the Pride and Golden Knights combined.

He is now 5-1 on the season with a 1.40 GAA, second best in the MPSF. Dennis becomes only the third UNLV men's soccer player to receive Brine Player of the Week honors, after the Rebels rejoined the league in 1999.

UNLV (5-3) is currently second in the MPSF conference standings, behind No. 28-ranked and defending conference champion New Mexico (8-0).

MORE LEAGUE LEADERS...Junior midfielder Alex Hernandez (Indio, Calif.) is the league's third leading scorer with 11 points on five goals and one assist to-date. Sophomore Brendon Bain (Beaverton, Ore.) and senior Kelly Frederick (St. John's, Antigua) are also tied for third in league assists (3).
