LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -
UNLV men's soccer weekly release
The UNLV men's soccer team is back in the MPSF Tournament after a one-year absence as the sixth seed, and faces third-seed Air Force in the first round on Thursday at 4 pm (PT). This year's tournament is hosted by New Mexico at the UNM Soccer Complex in Albuquerque. Both live stats and a video stream of the game will be available at UNLVRebels.com. This is the first meeting between UNLV and Air Force in the MPSF Tournament since 2003, with the Rebels won the only meeting between the two in the regular season, 3-2 in overtime in Las Vegas on Oct. 26.
All About The Rebels
UNLV (6-13-1) is paced this season by sophomore forward Salvador Bernal, tied fourth in the MPSF in points (19) and goals (seven), while forward Nick Marshall has 13 points and five goals this season.
Scouting Air Force
The Falcons (8-8-3, 5-3-2 MPSF) is looking to break a three-game losing streak, as their last win was on Oct. 21 at home over San Jose State. While Air Force is 3-6-1 this year away from its home field, the Falcons did pull off a 1-0 road upset at fifth-ranked New Mexico earlier this season. Kevin Durr is the team's top scorer with 11 points (four goals, three assists).
Next Time Out
If UNLV advances past Air Force, it would meet the top-seeded, ninth-ranked New Mexico Lobos in the semifinals on Friday at 6:30 pm. The championship game is set for Sunday, Nov. 11 at 12 pm.
