Rebel Notes: Jon returns to the Rebel swim program for a fourth season as one of the conference's top swimmers...finished third in both the 50 and 100 backstrokes at the 2004 South African Olympic Trials.
2003-04: Won the 50 free (20.27) and 100 back (49.02) at the MWC for the second straight year, ... led off the first place 200 medley and free relays, anchored the first place 400 medley relay ... took third in the 100 free (45.08), and led off the second place 400 free relay. 2002-03: Jon was named the 2003 Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Year. He set the school and conference-record in the 50 free with a time of 19.74 and took 22nd at the NCAA Championships in 19.92 seconds. Hugo also took 28th in the 100 back (49.11) and 35th in the 100 free (44.38) at the NCAA Championships. He swam the lead-off legs of the conference winning 200 (1:28.85) and 400 medley relays (3:14.88), and 200 free relay (1:19.91). He also won the 100 back in 48.34 and the 100 free in 44.13. 2001-2002: Jon was a member of the conference winning 200 and 400 free relays. He also took third in the 100 back, fourth in the 50 free and fifth in the 200 back. He scored 65 points at the conference championships.
High School: Jon is a 2000 graduate of Reddam House in Cape Town, South Africa ... swam sprint free and back, helping his team to four straight state championships ... is the 2000 South African Short Course Champion in the 50 and 200 back ... took second in the 50 back, fourth in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 back at Senior Nationals ... placed fifth in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 back at the 2000 Olympic Trials.
