Rebels Shine At Relay Meet

TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men won a total of four relays while the Rebel women added one relay victory as the teams competed in the Arizona Relay Meet, hosted by the University of Arizona on Friday night. Also competing in the meet was the host Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State and Kansas on the women's side. No team scores were kept for the event.
Almost all of the relays swam in the meet were unofficial events, giving the teams the chance to try different relays and distances. UNLV won the first men's event, the 300 yard medley relay in a time of 2:22.83, thanks to a team of David Seiler, David Szele, Cody Roberts and Steven Nelms. In the 3x150 yard breast relay, Szele, Andrew Morrell and Brandon Meier posted a time of 4:29.66 to place first. Roberts, Nelms, Charlie Tapp and Seiler posted a time of 1:28.81 to win the 200 yard fly relay. The final Rebel win came in the 200 yard free relay, as Nelms, Roberts, Calan Eldridge and Tapp touched the wall in 1:22.36.
All four teams will swim in a quad-meet (a tri-meet on the men's side) on Saturday, starting at 10 am.
