HOUSTON - The UNLV men's and women's swimming team finished the second day of action in two separate invitationals on Saturday, as the swimmers were at the Cougar Classic Fall Invitational in Houston. The 24th-ranked men's team shined once again, winning a total of three events on the night.

UNLV led off the night with a NCAA 'B' time of 1:28.49 in the 200 medley relay to take first. David Seiler, Andrew Morrell, Cody Roberts and Steven Nelms made up the relay squad. Roberts also claimed a victory in the 100 fly in a 'B' time of 48.25, while Nelms and Seiler finished third and fourth, respectively. Kyle Virva won the 200 free in 1:39.07,

The Rebels, who brought 10 swimmers from the men's side, stands in second place in the team standings with 473 points, while LSU is first with 992.

UNLV took two swimmers from the women's squad to the event, and they would both score in the 200 free, with Marva Harpak placing ninth in 1:50.30, while Brittany Ozar was right behind her in 10th in 1:50.51.

The Rebels are also participating in the University of Arizona Diving Invite this weekend. In the 1-meter competition, Mariah Skeen was the highest finisher at 32nd with 191.15 points, followed by Jordyn Lauten and Rachelle Zuccaro, tied for 33rd at 186.5, and Kristina Fivecoat in 39th (153.8). Zuccaro led the Rebels on the 3-meter board by placing 26th with a score of 205.65. Skeen was 31st (196.3), Lauten was 35th (180.25), and Fivecoat was 39th (153.8).

 

 

Both invitationals will conclude on Sunday.
