SAN ANTONIO, Texas - UNLV junior Joe Bartoch's first-place finish in the 100 meter butterfly highlighted the weekend's action as several Rebel men and women competed in the US Open on Thursday through Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. The Rebels finished seventh overall in the team competition.

Bartoch took the 100 fly on Friday in a time of 54.68, and also placed 12th in the 50 free. Top finish among the Rebel women was Raluca Udroiu, taking 12th in the 200 back and 15th in the 100 back. Other top finishes in the meet included the 400 medley relay team of Adam Martinson, Bartoch, Curtis Robinson, and Brandon Nelms placing second, while Udroiu, Jessie Bradshaw, Shayna Burns, and Marina Sandback took eight in the women's 400 medley relay.

Also scoring over the three day meet, Michael Day placed ninth in the 200 fly, 10th in the 100 fly, and 15th in the 200 IM, Martinson was 6th in the 200 back and 11th in the 100 back, Robinson 14th in the 100 breast, Nelms was ninth in the 50 free, while Jon Byers took 16th in the 100 fly.

Next up for UNLV will be the UNLV Winter Invitational, held Saturday-Monday, Dec. 18-20 at Buchanan Natatorium with prelims starting at 10 am all three days.
