Rebel Swimming Defeats Hawai'i

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Rebels took on the University of Hawai'i in dual meet action for the second straight day, and were victorious for the second straight time. The UNLV women's team won 129-85 while the men finished with a score of 121.5-84.5.

The men's action was highlighted by Tomasz Piotrowski who finished in first place in both the 200 (1:43.56) and the 500 (4:35.41) freestyle. Mike Mintenko also swam to a top finish clocking a time of 21.29 in the 50 free.

The UNLV women also fared well, with good performances being turned in by Sabrina Ferrari, Donna Wu and Ashleigh Crowder. Ferrari captured the 100 butterfly with her time of 59.20. Wu took her first place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:10.44 and Crowder finished on top, swimming 58.48 in the 100 backstroke.

The Rebels next action is Saturday, February 7 as the Rebels take on WAC foe Fresno State and the University of the Pacific.
