Andersson Finishes 31st At Beijing Olympics

LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's swimmer Jonas Andersson swam in his first competition of the 2008 Olympics on Saturday morning in Beijing, China from the National Aquatic Center.
In his one invididual event of the meet, Andersson fnished in 31st place in the 100m breaststroke by swimming a time of 1:01.77 in the preliminaries, out of a total of 63 swimmers. He was just one second away from advancing to the semifinal heats, as the top 16 advanced, and the last one to move to the semifinals was Mark Gangloff of the United States in a time of 1:00.71.
Andersson will still swim on Sweden's 4x100 medley relay, which will be held on Aug. 15-17. Coming up on Sunday for UNLV, Richard Hortness, also a senior on this year's past team, is an alternate on Canada's 4x100m free relay.
