LAS VEGAS - The 2004-05 UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams open their Mountain West Conference schedule on Saturday as the Rebels host Utah at 2 pm at Buchanan Natatorium.
The Rebel men come into the meet with a 1-0 record after upsetting No. 17 Arizona State 152.50-141.50 on Oct. 22. That performance nearly got the team ranked in the most current poll, as they are the first team out of the top 25. UNLV won with its depth in the meet, as six different swimmers all won at least one event, while junior Joe Bartoch was named National Swimming of the Week after winning two events and swimming the 200-medley relay to a first place finish. The Utes dropped their lone meet of the year thus far, 123-118 in Salt Lake City to Notre Dame.
The UNLV women are looking for their first win after dropping its meet to the top-25 Sun Devils 214-86. They are taking on a Utah team that is 2-0 on the year after a 134-104 win over San Diego State and a 194-106 win over San Diego.
