Nike Cup Competition Awaits Rebels

LAS VEGAS - This Week In UNLV Swimming (Nov. 17-22)
This week in UNLV swimming the Rebels will travel to the Nike Cup, Thursday thru Saturday.
The women are coming off a tough loss to the University of Utah last weekend. The Rebels swam strong but came up short. The women were lead by Bailey Kuestermeyer who won the free in 5:04.84, first in the 400 IM and took second in the 1000 free. Other Rebel winners on the day were Lara Sreibers and Rachelle Zuccaro on the board.
UNLV men's team were able to take down the Utes. The Rebels dominated in the pool. UNLV won all but on event on the day. They had five members be double-event winners. John Mendoza continutes to be a huge assest to the men's team. Calan Eldrige, Andrew Morrell, Nick Blank and David Seiler were all double-event winners.
As the Rebels travel to the Nike Cup in Long Beach, Calif. UC Irvine will hold the contest in which 22 teams will compete.
The women will go up against UC Irvine, BYU, Air Force, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, New Mexico, Cal State Northridge, Pepperdine, Pacific, San Jose State, San Diego and Cal State Bakersfield.
The men's team will face off against UC Irvine, Air Force, BYU, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Bakersfield and Pacific.
Both the BYU men's and women's teams are the top returning teams to this meet. Both finished second at last year's meet.
The Nike Cup will be held at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif. Prelims will begin at 9:00 a.m. each day with finals at 6:00p.m.
