AT UNLV: One of the two Swiss players on this year’s Rebel roster … Expected to earn a spot in the bottom half of the singles lineup and team with fellow-countryman and senior Thomas Schneiter as one of the team’s top doubles team … Joined squad in January and went 0-2 at National Collegiate Tennis Classic played in Las Vegas.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2001 graduate of Wirtschafts Gymnasium … A two-time Swiss junior champion, winning the 1996 indoor singles title and 1999 outdoor doubles crown.

PERSONAL: Andreas Christian Maurer was born on Feb. 3, 1981, in Bern … The son of Hans-Rudolf and Marianne Maurer … Has an older brother, Michael, and two sisters, Daniela and Barbara … Interested in majoring in political science.
