Rebels Rally Past Falcons|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Charlie Alvarado won five straight games to come all the way back and take the deciding set and give the UNLV men's tennis team a wild 4-3 victory over Air Force in the Mountain West opener for both teams on Saturday.
Playing indoors, UNLV earned its first road win of the year to improve to 4-8 while the Falcons fell to 5-5.
The Rebels had to rally first after losing the doubles point. The hosts took a 1-0 lead after winning two of three matches. UNLV's only success came on court three where Tamas Batyi and Willie Sublette used a tiebreaker to get by Joey Brandt and Ali Rizvi 9-8.
In singles, UNLV got straight sets wins from Batyi, 7-5, 6-2 over Alex Grubbs at the fourth spot, and Alex Bull, who downed Landon Kinsey 7-6, 6-3 at No. 2. Bernard Schoeman eventually rallied from being down 3-0 in the third set to win his match over Ali Rizvi at the sixth position, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
With the teams tied at 3-3, Air Force's Alex Lineberry led 5-2 in the final set vs. Alvarado on court five. The Rebel junior, however, stormed back to win it 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 and finish off the dramatic team victory.
The Rebels return to action on Friday when they begin an eight-match homestand vs. Ball State on Thursday. Doubles play begins at 2 p.m. Admission to all UNLV matches is free of charge.
