All-UNLV Doubles Final Set For Sunday|
Nov. 4, 2017
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Host UNLV saw both of its doubles teams advance through Saturday’s second day of the annual Larry Easley Memorial Classic being held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Players from three other western programs – UCLA, San Diego State and NAU -- are competing in the individual event. Action resumes Sunday at 10 a.m. and admission to all matches is free of charge.
In semifinal doubles play, UNLV’s Kevin Chau and Richard Solberg downed Ignacio Martinez and Joel Popov of San Diego State, 8-7; while Courtney Lock and Eric Samuelsson ousted Sander Anderson and Arnaud Restifo, also of SDSU, 8-5, to advance.
The annual event was renamed in 2010 in honor of UNLV Hall of Famer Larry Easley, who passed away from illness in 2005 at the age of 57. Easley coached the UNLV men's tennis team longer than anyone in history and produced sometimes-spectacular results over his dozen seasons from 1993-2002, including producing five All-Americans and two NCAA individual champions.
