LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV tennis junior Charlie Alvarado has been named the Mountain West Men's Player of the Week, the league announced.

Hailing from Costa Mesa, Calif., Alvarado helped propel UNLV to a 4-3 victory over Air Force last Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo. Playing indoors for the first conference match of the season, Alvarado rallied to pull off a come-from-behind victory over Alex Lineberry at the No. 5 singles position. Down 5-2 in the third and decisive set, Alvarado won five consecutive games to take the match 4-6, 7-6, 7-5. His victory helped the Rebels snap a six-match losing streak and pick up their first road victory of the 2012 season.

Alvarado and the Rebels are back in action today when they host Ball State starting with doubles at 2 p.m. UNLV hosts Utah State on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. and then will round out the weekend at the Fertitta Tennis Complex with Northern Arizona at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Admission to all UNLV tennis matches is free of charge.
