Brenda Pantoja returns for her second season on the Lady Rebels' staff. She will again work with the guards and assist with coordinating recruiting and scouting.
Pantoja came to Las Vegas in 1999 from Long Beach State where she served as an assistant coach since 1997. There, she helped the 49ers to a runner-up finish at the 1999 Big West Conference Tournament.
Prior to joining the staff at Long Beach State, Pantoja spent one season as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach at Mountain View High School in Tucson, Ariz.
A point guard at the University of Arizona from 1991-1996, Pantoja claimed first-team All-Pacific 10 honors as a senior. She led the nation in assists that year and was named to the all-tournament team at the WNIT. She is still Arizona's all-time assists leader.
A Bell, Calif., native, Pantoja was chosen as the L.A. County Player of the Year at Bell Gardens High School before earning her bachelor's degree in media arts from Arizona in 1996.
"Brenda and I think a lot alike because we were both point guards," head coach Regina Miller said. "She has a very good knowledge of the game and has certainly helped our point guard play."
