LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -
UNLV FACES AIR FORCE FOR FIRST MEETING IN 2018...
Wednesday night is the first matchup of two this season between UNLV and Air Force, with the Lady Rebels looking to push its win streak to three games to stay within reach of the conference leaders as the teams will tip off at 6 pm in the Cox Pavilion.
It will be Alumni Appreciation Night, as all former UNLV alumni will receive four free tickets to the contest, Single game ticket prices for the Lady Rebels this season are $8 for adults, $5 if bought online at UNLVTickets.com, while kids 12 and under are free at all UNLV Lady Rebel home contests.
The game will be live streamed on the Mountain West Network with Wyatt Tomchek on play-by-play, and there will also be a radio broadcast with the call of Adam Candee, with both available through UNLVRebels.com.
Air Force has been one of the best teams in the conference this season at forcing turnovers, as it leads the MW with 11.1 steals per game and is second with a +3.6 tunover margin. That will help them against a Lady Rebel squad that is currently short on guard play following injuries to both point guards on the roster.
However, the Lady Rebels will have a significant advantage in the post, as the Falcons’ tallest starter is 6-0. Every member of the UNLV starting lineup is at least 6-0 tall meanwhile, including 6-2 foward Paris Strawther and 6-4 Katie Powell. The two juniors have posted double-doubles in back-to-back contests, and have helped UNLV outscore its past two opponents 76-30 on points in the paint while holding a +18.5 rebound margin for the two contests.
UNLV has dominated the all-time series against the Falcons by a 38-5 margin. That includes a perfect 22-0 mark in Las Vegas, where the average margin of victory has been 22 points, with just one of the games decided by single digits. Overall the Lady Rebels have won 10 straight in the series between the two, with the last loss coming on Jan. 12, 2013 in Colorado Springs.
