LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Athletic Department and the Lady Rebels will be hosting two special events on Saturday, Feb. 18, prior to the women's basketball game against New Mexico in the Thomas & Mack Center at 3:30 pm in a nationally televised game on The Mtn.

Since its inception in 1987, National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) has become the premiere occasion to celebrate the participation, success and accomplishments of girls and women athletes. UNLV will host its annual NGWSD All-Sport Clinic on Feb. 18 from 1:00-3:00pm, and invite all children in grades 2-8 to participate in the free clinic. This event will be one of the first held in the recently completed Mendenhall Center on the campus of UNLV. Last year over 150 youth from Southern Nevada participated, and an even larger turnout is anticipated this year. The women's sports programs at UNLV will host various stations in this fun-filled afternoon. All participants will be able to learn from the best in sports such as soccer, volleyball, track and field, softball, the Rebel Girls & Cheer, and basketball. Those attending should wear sneakers and athletic attire only. Parents are encouraged to watch their son or daughter during the clinic if they would like.

In addition to the clinic, each participant will receive a free ticket to the Lady Rebel game against New Mexico. UNLV is also be partnering with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure to host its annual breast cancer awareness game, this year called "Play4Kay". This year's game is particularly special for head coach Kathy Olivier, as she was named an Honorary Chair for this year's upcoming race on May 5, 2012. For this special day, parents (and all fans) will be able to purchase a ticket for only $1 if they wear pink.

Registration can be completed by visiting www.unlvwomensbasketballcamps.com. Space for the clinic is limited, so parents are encouraged to sign up today. For questions, please contact Brezya Rhodes at 702-895-3041.
