UNLV HOSTS BOISE STATE IN KEY MATCHUP...

The Lady Rebels start the second half of Mountain West play by hosting Boise State in a big conference showdown Saturday in the Thomas & Mack Center. On top of celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) at UNLV, Saturday's contest matches up two of the top three teams in the MW. UNLV, winners of seven of its last eight, is currently tied for first place, half a game ahead of the third-place Broncos.

The game will be live streamed on the Mountain West and there will also be a radio broadcast on with the call of Adam Candee, with both available through UNLVRebels.com.

In honor of NGWSD, UNLV is holding a free all-sports clinic before the game for 300 kids in the local community. The first 100 fans to Saturday's game will also receive a free Like A Lady Rebel T-Shirt, while Moriah Jefferson of the newest Las Vegas professional team, the Las Vegas Aces, will be in attendance at the game as well and will be signing autographs pre-game.

At halftime, UNLV will also honor nine former athletes from its women's team as part of the NGWSD celebration. The nine Rebels are: Maria Aladjova (volleyball), Amanda Anderson (basketball), Emily Bok (track), Kim Bonney (swimming), Alexis Garrett (tennis), Alexandra Kaui (golf), Cosette Packer (soccer), Jamie Smith (basketball) and Stefany Valentino (volleyball).

Single game ticket prices for the Lady Rebels this season are $8 for adults, $5 if bought online at UNLVTickets.com, while kids 12 and under are free at all UNLV Lady Rebel home contests.

Boise State won the first meeting between the two, thanks mostly to the outside shooting of Riley Lupfer, who knocked down seven three-pointers on the way to 28 points in a 69-60 victory in the league opener for both teams in Boise on Dec. 30. UNLV was without the services of starting points guard Nikki Wheatley in that contest however, and with her in the lineup the Lady Rebels are 4-1 with the only loss coming on a last second shot.

UNLV is 7-2 in MW play for the first time since the 2003-04 squad won seven of its first nine, on the way to a 10-4 league mark and a third-place finish.

The Lady Rebels' success in the conference this season has been fueled by its outstanding post play. UNLV has outscored its past eight opponents 244-114 on points in the paint while holding a +10.4 rebound margin for the eight contests. That size shows up even more on the offensive boards, where UNLV is rebounding an impressive 40.5% of its missed shots. The Lady Rebels are also finding their way to the free throw line, and are currently tied for 20th in the nation with 320 made free throws this season.
