LAS VEGAS - Ashley Kroneberger has signed a national letter of intent to play for the UNLV women's basketball team starting in the fall of 2009-10, head coach Kathy Olivier announced on Tuesday.

A 5-10 guard from Springville, Utah, Kroneberger was named 4A MVP by both the Deseret Morning News and the Salt Lake Tribune after leading Springville High to the state championship game and a 20-4 record this past season. She averaged 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.6 steals, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per game on the way to earning first-team all-state honors for the second straight year. As a junior, she led all of the 4A division in scoring with 17.5 ppg while helping Springville HS to the state semifinals.

"Ashley is going to give us her best every time she's on the floor," said Olivier. "A very smart player and a hard worker, Ashley will be a good addition to our team and a great fit with the players we have returning."

Kroneberger is the fourth player to sign with the Lady Rebels this year. She joins three from the fall signing period, guard Kelly Thompson (Long Beach, Calif.), forward Amanda Anderson (The Woodlands, Texas) and point guard Mia Bell (Las Vegas, Nev.). The fall signing class was ranked 56th in the nation by ESPN/Hoopgurlz, and was the second-highest rated class in the Mountain West Conference.
