Vérin Joins French National U20 Team|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Réjane Vérin, who recently completed her freshman season on the UNLV women's basketball team, has been selected to the France U20 National Team camp. Vérin is one of 20 players on the French squad, which will begin its training camp June 2 in Andrezieux, France, before cutting the roster down to 12 players that will then travel to Turkey for the FIBA U20 European Championships. This summer's 16-team tournament is being held in Samsun, Turkey, from July 4-14, with France's first game scheduled for July 4 against Italy.
Vérin was born in Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, an overseas region of France, and lived in Les Abymes before moving to the United States five years ago. This is also not her first experience in the national program, as she played in the national camp at the age of 13, and had to turn down an invite to participate with the team last summer due to classes starting at UNLV. Her play over the last three months of the season for UNLV, which resulted in Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors, put her back on the national team's radar and she was extended an invite in April.
"It is a dream come true to represent my country and to wear France on my jersey in an international tournament," said Verin. "I hope to represent UNLV well, and I'm also excited about the chance to play for my family as well and represent them."
