Justice Ethridge And Kambrayia Elzy Sign With Lady Rebels

Nov. 8, 2017

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's basketball team has signed Justice Ethridge and Kambrayia Elzy to national letters of intent to play for the Lady Rebels starting in the fall of 2018-19, Head Coach Kathy Olivier announced on Wednesday.

"Justice is one of the best if not the best senior in Las Vegas this year," said Olivier. "She's a total winner, and not just a good 3-point shooter, but a great 3-point shooter. We saw her knock down seven threes in one quarter in the state championship game."

Ethridge, a 5-9 shooting guard, is a Las Vegas native, having started for Centennial High for the past three seasons under celebrated head coach Karen Weitz. She helped the team rise to as high as No. 2 in the nation in the 2016-17 season in the USA Today Super 25 Girl's Basketball rankings. The No. 91 recruit in the nation this season according to ESPN, she is a three-time all-state selection, three-time first team all-division. She also earned USA Today All-Nevada honors her first three seasons as well. Ethridge received MVP honors for the 2015 Nevada high school state championship team after leading her team to the state title, the first of three straight for Centennial with Ethridge on the squad. She has also played under Coach Weitz for the Las Vegas Bulldogs club team.

"Justice has been a key and huge component to us winning three consecutive state titles and becoming an elite HS program in the nation," said Weitz. "For her to stay home and chose UNLV is pivotal - she's an elite player who will impact their program immediately. We are so proud."

"We are thrilled to have another ultra athletic point guard join our team," said Olivier about Elzy. "Kam is a guard that can get her teammates the ball at the right time and can score as well. She has quick feet and quick hands. We feel both of these players will make immediate impacts in the Lady Rebel program."

Elzy is a 5-7 point guard from Tulare, California. She has led Mission Oak High to two Central Section CIF D-3 Championships and state playoff appearances, and averaged 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game her junior season. In her three years with the Hawks, she was a three-time all-league, Visalia Times-Delta Tulare County All-Star and Fresno Bee All-Star first team selection. She is also a member of the Fresno Lady Heat club team.

"Kambrayia has helped elevate our program to a level that we have not achieved before," said Mission Oak head coach Dave Caetano. "She has helped establish our program as an elite program in our section and state. I have always felt that a coach gets one or two athletes in their coaching career that are something special; without question Kambrayia would be that player in my career. She has worked hard and has taken advantage of her God given talent to become a tremendously talented basketball player. I am very proud of her and look forward to watching her play at next level of basketball."

"I believe the Lady Rebels got a good one in Kam," said Demetrius Porter, founder and coach of the Fresno Heat club team. "She is a competitor on the court and a sweetheart off the courts. Her strength, speed and explosiveness allows her to compete at collegiate level immediately."
