UNLV Hosts UC Irvine In First-Ever School Game...
UNLV is hosting the first-ever Lady Rebel School Day game on Tuesday, as over 1,300 third, fourth and fifth-graders from four local elementary schools will be attending the 12 pm home contest against UC Irvine. The students will receive a tour of the campus before coming to the Cox Pavilion for the contest.
They will see a matchup of 1-0 teams that both pulled off big rallies to win their season-openers this past Friday. UNLV came back from 21 points down with 5:27 left in the fourth quarter to top Portland State 88-80 in overtime. UCI meanwhile trailed by 13 points in the final three minutes at home to Utah State, before closing out the game on a 16-3 run, capped by a half-court shot at the buzzer that was the No. 1 play of the day on SportsCenter later that night.
The two teams played a year ago, and it was a tight game near the end of the third quarter, until the Lady Rebels went on a 21-0 run over a nine-minute stretch, on the way to a 62-46 victory in Irvine on Dec. 12, 2016.
