Rebels Tied For 17th After Day Two In Palos Verdes

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf was back in action Monday for the second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, California. The Rebels carded a 25-over 309 on day two to bring their tournament total to 47-over 615 to sit in a tie for 17th with San Diego State heading into the final round Wednesday morning.

Freshman Polly Mack turned in the best round of the day, shooting a 2-over 73 to move to 10-over 152 for a tie for 54th. Junior Elizabeth Prior and senior Mackenzie Raim finished the second round in a tie for 60th at 12-over 154, while sophomore Nastasia Kossacky is one stroke behind at 13-over and a tie for 64th.

No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Alabama, who each entered the day seven strokes behind co-leader Arizona and No. 13 Arizona State, both shot even on the day to jump up to a tie for first at 8-over, while  the Wildcats and the Sun Devils fell back to third and fourth at 9-over and 15-over, respectively.

ASU's Olivia Mehaffey maintained her one shot lead after shooting an even round Monday to stay at 3-under. Texas' Katilyn Papp kept pace with an even round as well to stay in second place and is joined there by UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit.

REBEL OF THE DAY: Mack, who has had a solid freshman campaign, shot the best round of the day for the Rebels - a 2-over 73.

Last year, Mackenzie Raim tied for first at the same tournament, marking her first collegiate tournament win just a few miles from where she grew up
