Rebels Finish Tied For Fifth At The Wildcat Invitational |

TUCSON, Arizona (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team concluded the Wildcat Invitational Tuesday at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, finishing in a tie for fifth with Purdue at 22-over 886. The Rebels carded a 16-over 304 in the final round after shooting a 1-under (287) and 7-over (295) in rounds one and two on Monday.
Sophomore Nastasia Kossacky turned in her best three-round score of her Rebel career, carding a 1-over 217 to finish in a tie for 12th. Freshman Polly Mack was the next highest finisher in a tie for 30th at 7-over (223), followed by senior Mackenzie Raim, who was one stroke behind Mack at 8-over (224) in a tie for 37th. Junior Elizabeth Prior wrapped up the invitational in a tie for 45th at 10-over (226), while fellow junior Shannon Oh came in tie for 68th at 16-over 232. Freshman Cathy Liu, playing as an individual, tied for 78th at 19-over (235).
No. 1 UCLA and top-ranked Bruin Lilia Vu swept the team and individual medalist honors as the Bruins won the tournament by nine strokes at 17-under 847 and Vu bested teammate Mariel Galdiano by two strokes to take first at 14-under (202). Tournament host Arizona finished in second as a team at 8-under (856), while the Wildcats' Gigi Stoll and YuSang Hou took third and fifth, respectively, at 7-under (209) and 5-under (211). Texas took third overall as a team at 4-under 860 with Kaitlyn Papp finishing in fourth individually at 6-under (210). Long Beach State took fourth as a team at 17-over (881), finishing five strokes ahead of Purdue and UNLV.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Kossacky notched her highest finish of the year and best three-round score as a Rebel after finishing in a tie for 12th at 1-over 217. This came a day after she shot her best two single rounds scores at UNLV - a 71 and 70 - in rounds one and two Monday. For the tournament, Kossacky sank nine birdies over three rounds.
