May 10, 2017

LUBBOCK, Texas ( - UNLV Women's Golf carded its best single-round team score at the Lubbock Regional, shooting a 5-over 293 at The Rawls Course in Wednesday's tournament finale. That brought the Rebels' three-round score to 41-over (905), which was good for 14th place. Senior Alexandra Kaui was UNLV's top individual performer at the regional, finishing out her career with a 9-over (225) to tie for 45th after shooting even in her last collegiate round.

As a team, the Rebels sunk 10 birdies in the final round Wednesday, with sophomore Elizabeth Prior leading the way with five. Prior ended the tournament two shots behind Kaui in a tie for 59th at 11-over (227) after carding a 1-under Wednesday, while senior Harley Dubsky came in two shots behind Prior at 13-over (229) in a tie for 66th. Junior Mackenzie Raim finished in a tie for 70th at 15-over (231) and sophomore Alyssa Getty rounded out the squad in a tie for 80th at 20-over (236).

Seventh-ranked Arizona State was the wire-to-wire winner as the Sun Devils cruised to a 21-shot victory - topping the 11-under in round two with a 16-under in round three to run away with the regional. No. 10 Furman had an impressive day, jumping up to second at 1-under after turning in a round of 8-under Wednesday. Oregon took the third NCAA Championship qualifying spot with a 3-over for the tournament while No. 18 Texas grabbed the fourth spot at 5-over after also carding an 8-under during the final round. The final two qualifiers were tournament host Texas Tech at 9-over and No. 15 Kent State at 11-over.

Considering the low team score, it was no surprise that ASU claimed the top three individual spots on the leaderboard as well, with Monica Vaughn edging out teammate Olivia Mehaffey by one stroke to take medalist honors at 8-under. Mehaffey finished in second at 7-under while a third teammate, Linnea Strom, was one behind her at 6-under to take third. Kent State's Pimnipa Panthong took fourth at 5-under (211), followed by two Furman teammates - Natalie Srinivasan and Haylee Harford - tied for fifth at 4-under. With all of the top six individuals advancing with their teams, the three individuals to advance were Oklahoma's Julienne Soo, BYU's Alex White and Oregon State's Susie Cavanagh, who finished seventh and tied for ninth, respectively.

Wednesday's results mark the end of the 2016-17 campaign that saw the Rebels win back-to-back Mountain West Championships and make their 15th-consecutive NCAA Regional Appearance.
